The Romanian Cultural Institute shall subsidise through its Publishing Romania programme, nine more editorial projects in Spain, France, Great Britain, Poland, Greece, Belgium and the USA. The financing requests were received within this year’s first evaluation session of the programme.
Six applications were received for Section I (albums and studies devoted to Romanian culture) and six for Section II (publications). The evaluation was held on March 4th, 2010. The jury was composed of: Aurelia Mocanu, art critic, Ioana Pârvulescu, literary critic and Marina Constantinescu, theatre critic.
The prestigious publishing house of Centre Pompidou shall publish the albums Les Promesses du passé and The promisese of the past, to include celebrated Romanian artists such as Dan Perjovschi, Mircea Cantor, Daniel Knor, Ioan Grigorescu and Ciprian Mureşan. University of Plymouth Press continues the series of albums devoted to Romanian artists by publishing an album devoted to photographer Carmen Dobre. Polish publishing house Formincula shall publish two volumes by Constantin Noica, Jurnalul philosofic/The Philosophical Diary and Rugaţi-vă pentru fratele Alexandru/Pray for Brother Alexandru, under special graphic conditions.
Under Section II of the programme, cultural magazines Absinthe: New European Writing (USA), Alternatives Théâtrales (Belgium), Divazo (Greece), El invisible añillo (Spain) shall receive financial support from the Romanian Cultural Institute to publish special issues devoted to Romanian literature and theatre. The American university press Dalkey Archive Press shall publish the second issue of The Best European Fiction magazine.
