The Romanian Cultural Institute has launched the programme for the translation of Romanian authors into widely spread foreign languages.
The competition has the following stages:
1. Identifying, upon the suggestion of the publishers, the cultural personalities, the literary critics as well as all those interested in the Romanian cultural phenomenon, the titles most likely to be of interest to a western reader/publisher.
2. Selecting a series of twenty tiles by a jury made up of experts in the field of literature, arts and philosophy.
3. Translating some suggestive fragments from the selected books (20 - 30 pages).
4. Submitting the translated samples, via the representatives of the Romanian Cultural Institute abroad, to prestigious publishing houses in the targeted countries (The United States of America, France, Germany, England, Italy, Spain).
Once they have been accepted by the foreign publishers, The Romanian Cultural Institute shall fund the complete translations of the titles to be published. As the case may be, the Romanian Cultural Institute may also incur a quantum of the editing expenses.
