University of Plymouth Press shall publish, between 2009 - 2013, a series of 20 translations from Romanian authors, with the support of the National Book Centre through the 20 Authors programme. The volumes shall include illustrations by Romanian contemporary artists, who will also author the design of the book covers.
Four titles will be published each November. Thus, at the end of 2009, UPP has published: Ioan Groşan's The Cinematography Caravan (Caravana cinematografică), Max Blecher's Occurrence in the Immediate Unreality (Întâmplări din irealitatea imediată), a selection of poems by Mircea Ivănescu entitled Lines Poems Poetry as well as Constantin Noica's Six Maladies of the Contemporary Spirit (Şase maladii ale spiritului contemporan).
Alongside the editorial projects, Plymouth University has also organised the "Romanian Art and Music at Peninsula Arts" including an exhibition of Romanian artists Alexandru Rădvan, Florica Prevenda, Anca Boeriu and Florin Stoiciu who have illustrated the first series, screenings and music concerts.
The second series of translations, including volumes Ieudul fără ieşire by Ioan Es. Pop, Simion Liftnicul by Petru Cimpoeşu, Cine a câştigat războiul sfârşitului lumii by Daniel Bănulescu and Clenţii lu’ tanti Varvara de Stelian Tănase, shall be launched in November 2010 and shall be accompanied by a series of musical events organised in partnership with Peninsula Arts.
